Puppies raised in our home

Inside the House

Eight weeks in our living room

Not a kennel, not a shed, not a barn. Here is exactly what happens between birth and the day your puppy comes home.

  1. Weeks 1–2 · The quiet start

Puppies stay with mum in a whelping box in our bedroom. We handle each one daily for early neurological stimulation — brief, gentle exercises shown to improve stress tolerance later in life. Weights are recorded every morning.

  2. Weeks 3–4 · Eyes and ears open

The litter moves into the living room. This is the important bit: they grow up hearing the television, the hoover, the doorbell, plates in the sink. A puppy raised in silence startles at everything for the rest of its life.

  3. Weeks 5–6 · Surfaces, people, first vet visit

Tile, carpet, grass, gravel. Children, men with beards, hats, umbrellas. First veterinary exam and first vaccination. Crate introduction begins — door open, food inside, no pressure.

  4. Weeks 7–8 · Independence and matching

Short separations from mum and littermates so nobody arrives home with separation anxiety. Temperament assessed individually, and this is when we match specific puppies to specific families. Second vet exam, microchip, and the go-home kit is packed.
